MamaCat’s Rockinβ New Years Eve Epiphany Vacation super party!
Happy New Year, cats and kittens and all who otherwise identify! Welcome to my rockinβ New Years Epiphany Vacation Eve super party! (I keep changing the order of the words on that phrase because language is fun and words have meanings.)
Todayβs soup includes comfort and joy, the holly and the ivy, and the usual sleaze. OK, itβs mainly, βWhat I did on my Christmas Vacation,β starring MamaCat and HusbandCat as the Griswolds, finally getting it right. But then… we always did want to see the Griswolds finally get it right. #HolidayRoad
And if you’re liking this stuff… you know I’m always in the mood for a coffee… https://www.buymeacoffee.com/grannyhasaa
Peace and Love for the New Year, everybody! Love you miss you peace out bye till the next one! πππ₯π #HatitudeOfGratitudeπ©

MamaCat and the Hattitude of Gratitude
Or, how I learned to keep complaining and love the process π€£π©π
That sounds like a helluva boring formula motivational speech, doesn’t it? “How I Learned to Keep Complaining and Love the Process,” the next TedX YouTube you’ll back out of in a great big hurry! But don’t worry. I wouldn’t do that to you.
Todayβs soup contains: slain dragons, consumer relations, self-advocacy, and the great Sly Stone. Oh, and tomatoes. Of course tomatoes. May also contain: snark, sarcasm, sound effects, opinion, excellent music choices. Processed in a facility that also contains a Beagle and a polydactyl cat. Professional driver on closed course. Do not attempt at home. Yes Iβll pick up milk on the way home.

They All Laughed
When I said that a podcast might be what I’d like to do.
They all laughed, but now we’re starting season 2!
Listen to your Granny. She knows stuff about stuff.

MamaCat’s Never-Ending Festival of Spring Cleaning!!!
At Long Last, She Produces a New One.
Clean Out Your Mailbox! Clean out your Mind? Clean out your Closets.
Absolutely, positively, not about household cleaning tips. That’s some other podcast.
βThe Webby Awards took place last night. Weβd already covered the podcast winners; the ceremonyβs famous five-word speeches included one from Lemonada Mediaβs Julia Louis-Dreyfus, winning podcast of the year for Wiser Than Me: βListen to old women, motherfudgersβ. (Some words may have been changed to ensure delivery of this email.) You can watch highlights at The Webby Awards website.β
You tell βem, Elaine Baby.
I promised you last time that weβd talk about junk mail, and we do. And as this evening marks the end of National Mental Health Week in the U.S. (where we could use some), we talk about that too. Also, physical junk gets cleaned out too. Includes research, opinion, and as always, thereβs Time Travel.
Todayβs Soup contains: Heavy duty personal stuff sandwiched between slices of hot fresh snark and sarcasm. Tender moments of inner vulnerability mixed with humor and reflection. Consumer reports sprinkled with obscure 60s & 70s pop culture references.
I promise, this podcast doesnβt sound like the other Granniesβ podcasts, because Iβm not like the other grannies. But I hang out with them. And they want you to do like Julia says, and βListen to old women.β Motherfudgers.

New Episode Tomorrow!
Because How Else Could We Possibly Close Out Mental Health Week?
Hey there, cats and kittens and all who other wise identify! I’ve been hard at work on both my life, and your podcast. Should be taking it out of the oven Friday afternoon in time for tea. Your time zone may vary. Professional MamaCat on closed course; do not attempt at home.

A MamaCat Golden Oldie Blast from the Past!!
A Love Letter from Last Year for This Year
Hey there, Cats and Kittens and all who otherwise identify,
Happy Day, you Mothers!
Nope, I didnβt shut down, I didnβt go away, everythingβs Bonzer, and I really am working on something new for you. βGranny Has A Podcastβ is still a thing. BUT, todayβs a day, isnβt it?
Hereβs to the square pegs. Hereβs to those of us who just survive this day with sardonic humor and no regrets. Hereβs to the people with uncomfortable feelings around what happens to our social media feeds every year on this day. Hereβs to waking up to a heart-filling, loving Happy Motherβs Day message, not from any of my stepchildrenβ¦ but from one of the gorgeous loving souls I hadnβt even met yet last year.
So, come into the safety of my loving arms. I accept you as you are. Allow me to re-up this Golden Oldie Blast from the Past (a whole year ago), βGranny Has A Podcast, Season 1, episode 10, βMamaCat Says Happy Day, You Mothers!β Hereβs to having a few laughs and looking at some of the great TV Moms.
New episode will occur. Promise. But this one here oughta give ya some grins in the meantime.
Peace and Love,
MamaCat

“MamaCat and the Chain of Foolishness”
This just in from the Minneapolis Bureau …
Howdy there, cats and kittens and all who otherwise identify… been good? All good here.
We turned out to have a lot of consumer advice on the Happy Cat-genda this time, as well as the need to praise my Union President in song, and two short tales from the Gendered Ageism files. I have also discovered a need for more and better microphones, because I apparently like singing with myself. Hope you like what I threw into today’s soup. There’s plenty, so take seconds.

MamaCat’s Rockin’ Happy Birthday Party!
That’s right, cats and kittens and all who otherwise identify! Over one month in the making!!
Gooooood morning, cats and kittens and all who otherwise identify! MamaCat’s got a plane to catch. Here, remember? I told you I was working on something for you before I leave for VO Atlanta. Hope you love it. OK I need coffee. Talk to you soon. xoxo

Slowly But Shirley
Shirley MacClaine as Martha Levinson The truth about podcasting (and about life): before you go and do something, you gotta do something else first. First, I wanted to get back into focusing on voiceover work. So before I could do that, I had to step into the 21st century and build out a little audio studio, because post-pandemic, that’s not an option. It’s a necessity. And before I could do that, I had to plow into actually, finally, dealing with the junk in the basement that was not quite hoarding, but not quite organized either.
Shirley Jones as Shirley Partridge, displaying her fine personal collection of young Partridges. Pear tree not included. And so it came to pass that I began to invest in my business with intent to commit Excellence. Threw away, donated, repurposed; still in progress. Put the table one way and then other. Replaced & upgraded a few pieces of equipment. And part of this whole thing has been the creation of this fab little podcast, as a sort of yoga practice for my audio chops, and as a current body of work.
Shirley. Bassey. ππ Behold, I even consulted such wizards as George Nowik and the legendary “Uncle” Roy Yokelson, in order to achieve actual, legitimate, broadcast quality audio. And there’s a lot to learn. You never stop. But it’s here, it’s happening, the audio I create at Happy Cat Ranch is at last good enough to offer as a professional service. Not just for you, gentle listener, but also for strangers who might become a person’s paying clients.
LaVerne and Shirley. π Because I wasn’t going to go start marketing this podcast, or my general usefulness as a voice actor and audio producer, until I knew I could deliver the goods. I am too damn picky after all those nice radio stations and highfalutin’ production rooms in my past. A gal has to be true to her own damn legend. Even if she is largely making it up as she goes along.
ESPECIALLY if she’s largely making it up as she goes along.
Candice Bergen as Shirley Schmidt, name partner of “Crane, Poole & Schmidt”.
As in, “I’m Schmidt.” Period. So stay tuned. Season 2 episode 3 is coming. And I have an account on WasTwitter now (“X”), @grannyhasapod, so please feel free to enjoy that.
For all we of the Earth Quadrant know, Commodore BunBun of the Lepus system’s first name could be Shirley. And slowly but Shirley, she persisted.

Autumn is such a flirt.
I don’t know how I’m supposed to get any work done in the studio when Mother Nature is pulling moves like this.
The sky where I’m at. I mean… when you grew up in Phoenix, AZ, and there’s no such thing as four distinct seasons, it makes you vulnerable to the beauty of Autumn forever. Like, powerless. I can’t not love it.
Oh you little showoffs. It’s distracting AF. And for that truth, I am profoundly grateful. The world has gone insane… but the leaves… the colors.
My souvenir coffee mug from my trip to Boston for NEVO is right at home. So, fear not, pre-production has begun on Season 2, episode 3, “MamaCat and the Chain of Foolishness”. Which sounds like a Stay Offa My Lawn moment if ever I heard one. But in the meantime…
They glow. They actually glow. …I may have my head all up in the leaves and whatnot. Mother Nature is throwing a party and we’re all invited.
Solid Gold. -
New Episode.
“MamaCat and the Hattitude of Gratitude”
Listen to your Granny. She has your best interests at heart and she’s weird. Please stand by. I have 18 minutes of heaven all whipped up for you. Hot, fresh, free-range organic snark. Just took it out of the oven this morning and the studio smells wonderful. π§πβοΈπ
We’ll have that out to your table right away. #GrannyHasAPodcast
Of course there’s really a hat.π© -

Bloom where you’re planted.
And occasionally, transplant yourself.
Tomatillos! Golden Shrimp plant! And coffee. It’s been four years, at least it will be in a couple of weeks, since a dance rehearsal injury in little old New York sent me back to the suburbs of Minneapolis for good. And I may finally be starting to accept that, at least partially. And having this deck, doing the refinishing all myself by hand, growing my container garden every summer… this may be the best part.
A rainy morning a few weeks ago. Don’t get me wrong; HusbandCat & Amy Farah Howler & Domino are who make it home. But for about four months of the year up here, I also have this amazing outdoor living room, where I can surround myself with flowers and leaves and vegetables. The bees and hummingbirds and dragonflies visit. There are good things to eat on the vegetable plants. There is peace.
There is sanctuary.
#SlavaUkraini π»πππΊπ¦ And then there’s a plane to catch. Because it’s lovely to have a home sweet home and garden, but life requires human connection and a change of scenery. So I am off to another voiceover conference, this time One Voice USA in Dallas-Fort Worth. In the summertime.
#GrannyHasAFan …because waving a business card around can’t cool you off in Texas in August. So I’m packing fans. Like, 100 of them. Just in case I need to cool any of them thar cowboys ‘n’ cowgirls off! π€£ππ€ π»
See y’all on the other side! I’ll be down in the studio if anybody needs me.

Buy your old Granny a coffee, honey?
Hey there, cats and kittens, it’s 11:00am on a Monday and I’ve put away about three cups already. Just wanted to bring this to your attention; turns out, the primary ingredient for good podcasting is Cafe Bustelo! Who knew??
There it is. The primary component of both my podcast and my blood.
In the nice little vacuum-packed bricks.
You can smell it just by looking, can’t you?
I know. I can too.So, if you’re liking what I’m making here and you’d like to help out, please and thank you and Won’t You Buy Me A Coffee? <– Just click that and it’ll take you there. Thanks. You know I’d do the same for you. Stay offa my lawn! πΈ

“MamaCat Gets Back on the Horse What Threw Her and then some other stuff happened”.
Not gonna lie. This one came out really good and it’s a treat to your earbuds. If I’m lying I’m dying. Today’s soup includes travel, home life, appliances, and at least one cat. π»π§πππ
