MamaCat’s Never-Ending Festival of Spring Cleaning!!!
At Long Last, She Produces a New One.
Clean Out Your Mailbox! Clean out your Mind? Clean out your Closets.
Absolutely, positively, not about household cleaning tips. That’s some other podcast.
βThe Webby Awards took place last night. Weβd already covered the podcast winners; the ceremonyβs famous five-word speeches included one from Lemonada Mediaβs Julia Louis-Dreyfus, winning podcast of the year for Wiser Than Me: βListen to old women, motherfudgersβ. (Some words may have been changed to ensure delivery of this email.) You can watch highlights at The Webby Awards website.β
You tell βem, Elaine Baby.
I promised you last time that weβd talk about junk mail, and we do. And as this evening marks the end of National Mental Health Week in the U.S. (where we could use some), we talk about that too. Also, physical junk gets cleaned out too. Includes research, opinion, and as always, thereβs Time Travel.
Todayβs Soup contains: Heavy duty personal stuff sandwiched between slices of hot fresh snark and sarcasm. Tender moments of inner vulnerability mixed with humor and reflection. Consumer reports sprinkled with obscure 60s & 70s pop culture references.
I promise, this podcast doesnβt sound like the other Granniesβ podcasts, because Iβm not like the other grannies. But I hang out with them. And they want you to do like Julia says, and βListen to old women.β Motherfudgers.

Hey there, Cats and Kittens and all who otherwise identify,
Happy Day, you Mothers!

Hereβs to the people with uncomfortable feelings around what happens to our social media feeds every year on this day. Hereβs to waking up to a heart-filling, loving Happy Motherβs Day message, not from any of my stepchildrenβ¦ but from one of the gorgeous loving souls I hadnβt even met yet last year.
So, come into the safety of my loving arms. I accept you as you are. Allow me to re-up this Golden Oldie Blast from the Past (a whole year ago), βGranny Has A Podcast, Season 1, episode 10, βMamaCat Says Happy Day, You Mothers!β Hereβs to having a few laughs and looking at some of the great TV Moms.
New episode will occur. Promise. But this one here oughta give ya some grins in the meantime.
Peace and Love,

“MamaCat and the Chain of Foolishness”
This just in from the Minneapolis Bureau …
Howdy there, cats and kittens and all who otherwise identify… been good? All good here.
We turned out to have a lot of consumer advice on the Happy Cat-genda this time, as well as the need to praise my Union President in song, and two short tales from the Gendered Ageism files. I have also discovered a need for more and better microphones, because I apparently like singing with myself. Hope you like what I threw into today’s soup. There’s plenty, so take seconds.

MamaCat’s Rockin’ Happy Birthday Party!
That’s right, cats and kittens and all who otherwise identify! Over one month in the making!!
Gooooood morning, cats and kittens and all who otherwise identify! MamaCat’s got a plane to catch. Here, remember? I told you I was working on something for you before I leave for VO Atlanta. Hope you love it. OK I need coffee. Talk to you soon. xoxo

MamaCat’s Rockinβ New Years Eve Epiphany Vacation super party!
Happy New Year, cats and kittens and all who otherwise identify! Welcome to my rockinβ New Years Epiphany Vacation Eve super party! (I keep changing the order of the words on that phrase because language is fun and words have meanings.)
Todayβs soup includes comfort and joy, the holly and the ivy, and the usual sleaze. OK, itβs mainly, βWhat I did on my Christmas Vacation,β starring MamaCat and HusbandCat as the Griswolds, finally getting it right. But then… we always did want to see the Griswolds finally get it right. #HolidayRoad

MamaCat and the Hattitude of Gratitude
Or, how I learned to keep complaining and love the process π€£π©π
That sounds like a helluva boring formula motivational speech, doesn’t it? “How I Learned to Keep Complaining and Love the Process,” the next TedX YouTube you’ll back out of in a great big hurry! But don’t worry. I wouldn’t do that to you.
Todayβs soup contains: slain dragons, consumer relations, self-advocacy, and the great Sly Stone. Oh, and tomatoes. Of course tomatoes. May also contain: snark, sarcasm, sound effects, opinion, excellent music choices. Processed in a facility that also contains a Beagle and a polydactyl cat. Professional driver on closed course. Do not attempt at home. Yes Iβll pick up milk on the way home.
Put on the Hat! #HattitudeOfGratitudeπ© -
They All Laughed
When I said that a podcast might be what I’d like to do.
They all laughed, but now we’re starting season 2!

MamaCat & the Principles of Soup, Redux.
It’s lentil soup, homemade, with the remaining vegetables from last week’s Imperfect Foods order. Recipe: on the day my new produce arrives, I decide what can be made out of the remaining “old” veggies and any dinner leftovers that may be in the fridge.
You’d be surprised how well that works out, with a little advance planning.
Start with what you have on hand. MamaCat’s First Principle of Soup. -
Dear Everyone, I’ve Been Cheating on You with my Garden. ππ»π π«
And I don’t care who knows it! Shown: “Midnight Snack” Cherry Tomatoes. My Gerbera Daisy is fixin’ to push out a new blossom. Shown: genuine EWR gift shop souvenir mug. Because duh. When it blooms, the blossoms will be a lovely light purple. And when it fruits, they will be “Patio Baby Hybrid” eggplant. Shown: yes of course I have a witch’s cauldron and you always knew it. Black keeps the roots warm. Eggplant likes that. That’s purple basil growing next to the purple tomatoes. π Shown: my growing obsession with growing things. Oxalis: how it started. Oxalis: how it’s going. Shade lovers, Fuschia and Coleus. Just 2 days later, and they’re getting settled in nicely. And a colanchoe’s going in that big vase there. My new job is colanchoe cuttings. New episode soon to come, “Season 1, Episode 12, In Which MamaCat Gets Back on the Horse What Threw Her” — We’ll process how awesome my trip to New York was.
But I didn’t want you to think I’m just sitting on my MamaCat derriere. I’m busy. ππ -

More from the continuing adventures of General Domino LadyCat of the Galactic Alliance.
She sets the bar high. A paragon of service leadership. The safety of the good citizens of the Galactic Alliance deserve no less. π The Starship Grouper, flagship of the Piscean fleet, had been through a lot. Again. And as always, they were led by the fleet’s bravest commanding office-fur, General Domino LadyCat of the Galactic Alliance. Her leadership was pawsitively inspirational.
A good leader knows when her crew need to party down and party hearty. A great leader knows where the kitty treats are. She always gave 100%. She asked no less of her officers & crew. She gave credit where credit was Mew. πββ¬
Aboard the Starship Grouper, the preferred recreational listening was “Granny Has a Podcast,” transmitting from Planet Earth. General Domino LadyCat

will return in,
“Mew Only Live Twice”. -
Granny Has a Validation.
You just never know when an actual working professional journalist is gonna give you the bump. Cool. Jeff Wing and I went to high school together. He’s actually Somebody. Brilliant writer, look him up. And here’s what he thinks about my little phenomenon here.
Golly. I may be doing something right. So thanks, Jeff. And thanks for listening, everyone. π π₯³ππ₯Έππ»π₯ https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9hbmNob3IuZm0vcy9hYjIwNzVhMC9wb2RjYXN0L3Jzcw/episode/YjFiODMzYzctMGJmMS00NjBiLTg0N2UtMmVhOTYyNzBhZGI3?ep=14

Give. Me. The. Wisdom.
To know the difference.
Just saying. Sometimes I fantasize about creating a whole new podcast, called, “Great A**H***s I Have Known. But of course you’d find it and recognize my voice, which implies that some of them could find it and recognize my voice. And some of the Great etc. may still be alive, and financially capable of retaining legal representation. π€£πππ€£
Then I go plant something and the feeling passes. This probably also explains why I put up such an elaborate Christmas tree every year. And why it stays up until like two weeks into January.
Yesterday, for example, I planted these little sweethearts. Yellow pear tomato, companion planted with sweet basil. π You see? I told you. -
My Garden is Better than Your Garden. πππ€£π»
Just getting started, really. Remember back last summer, when I started this whole podcast tomfoolery, and I said that one of my segments was going to be called, “My Garden is Better than Your Garden”? Well here we go, cats and kittens, it’s finally glorious Springtime in the frozen north, and I’m back to my favorite form of puttering around. Here comes the sun, here come the flowers and vegetables.
Nice planter boxes on the railings of the deck can be used as bribes to get the neighbors to forgive a multitude of transgressions. It started innocently enough when I was doing summer stock and regional theatre. I felt like HusbandCat would enjoy watering our tomato plant and a basil, perhaps a few flowers, while I was out of town so much. A shared experience. And then one year, the super fun Pandemic made homebodies of us all. Subsequently, my collection of containers, planters, flower pots, and gardening trivia, have made like Tribbles around here. I, MamaCat, Mostly Sassenach, have matured into an eccentric old English gardener lady. Praise the Mulch.
No dragons were harmed in the making of this garden. It’s not real blood. It’s a plant. So clearly, I’m going to have to start doing some YouTubes again. You can’t see pretty plants on an audio-only podcast. I’ll let you know what happens. And if you have any gardening fun in your world you want to tell me about, you know I’d love to hear from you: grannyhasapodcast@gmail.com
The miracle of flash photography reveals that it got a little crazy by last August. By September, from the other angle without flash, it got downright dramatic. -
At long last! A new episode!
Oh my goodness, it’s frikkin Mother’s Day again. That means it’s been one whole year since I’ve watched, “Mommy Dearest,” the movie that makes my childhood look like Hollywood. Oh, the bitter humor of it all. But please, it’s not like I was the first funny lady who came from an epically dysfunctional household. Embrace the weird.
Follow me on Insta. I’m hilarious. Or at least you can get to know my coffee cups and pets. So, not unlike people who come from even happy homes, I have a whole bunch of baggage packed with mixed feelings about this here Hallmark holiday. I took all of that, threw it into the audio blender, and produced a semi-sweet, semi-bitter, frozen cocktail for the ears. Contains no alcohol. May induce laughter.
